In 2017, Max Makewell completed an ambitious installation series for Miami’s Eden Roc Nobu resort. The pieces were displayed for the duration of Art Basel.
The completed series consisted of a circular arrangement of 8-foot tall light towers, each hand-painted with the Rorschach patterns for which Max is known. The intensity of these patterns were built up over many hidden layers of translucent plastic and illuminated from behind to create a surreal visual movement of colors, texture, and light.
Thanks to the series’ parallax design, each step taken around the installation gave viewers infinite perspectives on the same piece.
